About Us

A Note from The Board:

Hello and welcome to the 2022 The Em’ for Emily!  Whether you joined us last year or are a new visitor, we wanted to reacquaint you with the “why” and the “what” behind The Em.

Many of you knew Emily personally and were right alongside us as she fought Malignant Peritoneal Mesothelioma.  Diagnosed at age 25, months after the birth of her daughter, Ellie, Emily fought relentlessly against this extremely rare cancer through surgeries and clinical trials until it took her life in January 2017.  Emily’s faith, perspective, and love for life left an indelible mark on those around her.

Why:  The purpose of the Em for Emily is to honor Emily’s life and courageous fight against cancer through remembrance, fellowship and fun, and raising money, awareness, and improving the quality of life for those fighting cancer.

What:  Our mission is to host events raising money and awareness supporting our beneficiaries for 2023:

  • Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation (MARF): The Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation is the only non-profit explicitly dedicated to the eradication of Mesothelioma.  MARF was instrumental in providing assistance through consultations and advice, connecting us with clinical trials,  providing travel grants to attend the trials, and providing a means for others with this extremely rare disease to connect.  When we didn’t know what to do next, MARF was there for us. • Let There Be Mom:  Let There Be Mom is a Greenville, SC based non-profit dedicated to serving local Mom’s and Dad’s battling life threatening illnesses by capturing hopes, dreams, and life stories in tangible ways to ensure that young children will always have a way to know them.  Emily loved being a mom and Let There Be Mom is a special cause that captures what kept her fighting. • Make a Wish Foundation

We hope you’ll join us this year for this wonderful cause, benefitting two excellent non-profits, for fun, celebration, and remembrance.
